Day 1: Newton’s Laws of Motion
Nothing says “Motion Madness” like catapults, cannons, and rockets! Let’s utilize each as we explore Newton’s Three Laws of Motion.
Day 2: Mechanical Energy and Machines
Today we examine the Law of Conservation of Energy as we experiment with the transformation and transfer of energy.
Day 3: Sound Waves
Today we will explore the nature of sound waves as we learn to make silly and unusual noises with some common household items. Today’s raucous Make-N-Takes are the Plastic Pipe Kazoo and Buzzing Sound Spinner.
Day 4: Motion of Fluids
In this session, we’ll explore the properties of fluids and how gases and liquids respond differently to pressure. Today’s Make-N-Take is a true kids’ favorite, the Slap Rocket!
Day 5: Linear Momentum and Collisions
What happens to momentum when objects collide? Let’s find out as we experiment with elastic objects that bounce and inelastic objects that splat, play with a stringless pendulum, and assemble and test a magnetic linear accelerator. Then it’s time to assemble and bounce-launch today’s Make-N-Take, the Reaction Rocket, as we discover how momentum and energy are transferred from one object to other.
Day 6: Angular Momentum
Today is all about the science of spinning. From stacking tops to kinetic yo-yos and much more.
